Playing video games has been one of my favorite pastimes. I have so many great memories of playing games with my family and friends. From Mario Kart, Left 4 Dead, and much more. Here are some of my favorite games with immersive stories.
Breath of the Wild- Even though I haven’t finished this game it is easily one of my favorite games. I love the Zelda universe and how vast the lore in Hyrule is. The game occurs after Link awakens from a 100-year sleep, with no memory of the past. The kingdom of Hyrule is in ruins due to the great calamity. Link must defeat Ganon, save Zelda, and restore the kingdom. I love the game’s beautiful landscapes, intricate puzzles, side quests, and so much more. This game is an immersive adventure that captivates you from the beginning.
Final Fantasy series- I am very fond of all the Final Fantasy games. So it is hard to choose just one as my favorite. However, I can say that Final Fantasy VIII is my least favorite. While Final Fantasy X, X2, and VII are favorites. It’s very hard for me to into RPGs but Final Fantasy intrigued me with its memorable emotional stories and magic. These games will make you laugh cry and cheer. From intense battles, adorable Moogles, Chocobos, to iconic villains like Sephiroth, the Final Fantasy series is a classic for a reason.
Fallout Series- This is a game series that I love. All of the games have great plots that leave you intrigued. I have played almost all of the games in the series. The games are set in a retrofuturistic America that is influenced by 1950s war culture. The first games in the series were tactical role-playing games. Even though they were very different from the other games in the series, I still enjoyed them. This series is lovable because of its immersive open-world settings such as D.C. and Las Vegas. The gameplay varies from exploration of towns to scavenging for resources. You will encounter many characters that can accompany you on your journey: dogs, ogres, ghouls, and many other waste landers. During your adventure, you are free to make your own choices. You can be a hero in certain areas or a villain. The choice is completely yours. Fallout is a great game series that will keep you playing for hours.
Life is Strange Series- Life is Strange is a popular series and with good reason. You play as a teenage girl named Max who develops the ability to rewind time. When her childhood friend Chloe dies, she uses her powers to bring her back. This causes chaos in the chain of events. This emotional narrative focuses on themes such as self-discovery, friendship, and the consequences of choices. The third game in the series starring the Diaz brothers was my favorite. While the second game is a prequel featuring Chloe as the main character is my least favorite. The newest game is about Max, who is older and develops the ability to travel between dimensions. It looks promising and full of suspense. While each game’s plot is different, they are all emotionally driven adventures that are full of twists and turns.
The Persona series- This is another series I loved. While I haven’t completed the games, I have watched playthroughs of them. Each game has its own characters and plots, they share similar themes such as identity, mental health, and friendship. In the series, you play as a Japanese high school student trapped between two worlds. The world of shadows and the world of being a teenager. Throughout the games, you get to choose where, how, and with who the main character spends their free time. These interactions level up your character’s persona. The intriguing plotlines often involve dark subject matters such as murder. This series has a big following due to its quirky characters, fun RPG gameplay, and immersion into Japanese culture.
