As a writer, I’ve experimented with countless tools to help boost my creativity and productivity. Some I’ve outgrown, and others I’ll never give up. Here are five tools I can’t live without:

1. Reverse Dictionary
I’m not even sure how I stumbled across this tool, but I love it. Ever had a word on the tip of your tongue but just couldn’t find it? With the reverse dictionary, you can type in a phrase or description, and voilà—you’re given a list of relevant nouns, adjectives, and more to help you find the perfect word.

2. Google Docs
I’ve tried other writing apps like Scrivener (which I actually prefer for writing scripts), but Google Docs is my tried-and-true. It’s simple, reliable, and perfect for collaboration or jotting down ideas on the go.

3. Mila Note
I haven’t used Milanote as much as some of the other tools, but it’s fantastic. I love having a visual aid to organize plotlines, character designs, and settings. It’s like a digital mood board for your entire story.

4.Descriptive Thesaurus Collection by Writers Helping Writers
Writers Helping Writers has created so many amazing resources, and their descriptive thesauruses are a lifesaver. Whether you’re trying to describe a setting, an emotion, or a character’s body language, they’re incredibly helpful—especially if you’re stuck or just starting out.

5. A Pen and Notebook
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved writing in notebooks. There’s just something about putting pen to paper that helps me focus and feel free to create without distractions. It’s still one of my favorite ways to brainstorm or draft.
